Day 1:
This day tour takes you from Durban to Sani Pass, Lesotho to experience bird viewing.

Any professional birdwatcher should make the drive to Sani Pass since it offers the only convenient access to the Drakensberg Rockjumper, Drakensberg Siskin, and Mountain Pipit anywhere in the world.

Along the way, one may spot rare birds like Gurney’s Sugarbird and Buff-streaked Chat, as well as hard-to-find species like Barratt’s WarblerFan-tailed Grassbird, and Bush Blackcap and are only found in summer season between November to February. A number of western species can be found in the alpine zone, including the extremely endangered Bearded Vulture and Grey TitSickle-winged ChatLayard’s Warbler, and Fairy Flycatcher.

This general area is home to all three of the southern African crane species (Grey CrownedWattled and Blue), and the enigmatic seldom-recorded Short-tailed Pipit and Black-rumped Buttonquail.
