Day 1:
The tour leaves Durban and travels to iSithumba Cultural Village and the Valley of 1000 Hills, home of
PheZulu Cultural Village and Reptile Park.
The tour starts from Durban and drive to iSithumba Adventures where they offer a truly authentic cultural experience in the peaceful rural village of Isithumba. This is not a staged or “show” village—it’s a real, living community where residents continue their daily traditions, and visitors are warmly welcomed to share in a glimpse of their way of life.
This guided walking tour (approximately 90 minutes, light activity) provides meaningful interaction with the local community. Guests will have the rare opportunity to meet the village Chief/Headman and visit a Sangoma (traditional healer), gaining insight into Zulu customs, beliefs, and social structure.
The experience also includes a walk down to the river—an area of deep cultural significance—where, traditionally, young Zulu men would meet their future wives. Along the way, your guide will share stories and traditions that bring the village’s heritage to life.
To complement your cultural journey, the tour also includes a visit to Phezulu Safari Park, where you can enjoy scenic views, cultural performances, and the chance to encounter the reptile park.
